Great location. This is a hostel with customers aged between 20 and 35. We stayed in a double room and paid 140 BRL per night (double room WITHOUT a bathroom). The bathrooms are shared. If I owned the hostel i would clean the bathrooms more often. With this i don´t mean that the bathrooms were dirty, they weren´t, but having... more

The hostel was lovely and the staff who worked their super friendly and helpful. I travelled by myself and really felt like I had a home in Rio. There were plenty of interesting tours that they helped set up for me, and they gave my plenty of advice on how to get places, how to use the bank machines, etc.... more

I stayed for 2 nights at the Mango Tree in June 2008. First great impression was the staff friendliness... Well above average for a hostel, they show you around and tell you all the guidelines. The breakfast is superb and the showers quite awesome too. Plus free internet on site. They also have a bar area open til 10:30 except... more

One of the best places we stayed in South America. Location is great as its just one street from Copacabana. It's small but its perfectly formed! Has double rooms en-suite, twin rooms and dorms. Free internet and a great breakfast. Very clean and the staff are very friendly. You can book loads of activities in the Hostel and not have... more

Great little place with very helpful staff, rooms can be noisy as most are around the breakfast/bar which starts at 8.30! Room 2 was fab, great value as Rio isn't cheap! more

We stayed in mixed dorms in this hostel for three nights. We had a great time and met some lovely people. Its very relaxed and easy to chill out on the patio and in the lovely garden. Great location- 3 mins walk from Ipanema beach which is safe and clean. Buses run close by and you can get a taxi... more

Being a couple in our forties we were a little hesitant to stay at a hostel, but we chose this one after hearing the good reviews here on TA, and booked a private room with a bathroom. The location, hot shower, and comfortable bed were a nice surprise. Breakfast is included and is adequate. Hostels are certainly not for those... more

We loved it here! Just a block away from beautiful Ipanema beach is this cool little hostel. Emphasis is on quiet night for fear of neighbour complaints, and with comfy beds that made for some good nights sleep, at least once we got home from Lapa. Friendly staff - Lance and Ingrid couldn't have been more helpful. They sorted us... more

We stayed a week at the Mango Tree in June 2007 and left with happy memories. It's very central, and although on a street with lots of traffic most rooms are round the back in an attractive, sheltered courtyard. The staff are friendly and helpful, plenty of useful tips on what to see and where to eat (check out Rua... more
