Firstly, let me mention some background details. I live in Dubai, and have plenty of experience of 5 star hotels and restaurants, and the service levels they offer. I travel frequently and clock up around 80-100 nights in hotels worldwide in a year. I have reviewed many hotels on TripAdvisor, and am (I believe) generally balanced and fair (see my... more
We had a wonderful stay at the bab al shams. The food was fantastic and the rooms were very nice. My one request would be that they require the children to stay in the kiddie pool, or at least have one adult only pool. On the weekends, there are many children in the pools. more
We stayed for 3 days at the Bab Al Shams. The place is manicured and beautifully built. The architecture is based on old Arabic fortress with a few sand dunes. The huge swimming pool(s) are kept at a cool temperature which in the heat of the desert is a blessing. The sun beds are numerous which means nobody has to... more
As this was our second visit to Dubai and we stayed on the coast first time round, we wanted to find something a little different for this trip and we certainly did with B.A.S!! This was the 1st part of our honeymoon, with us moving on to Banyan Tree Maldives after. We arrived at BAS around 10am, and although I... more
The location in the middle of the desert feels (and is) miles from anywhere. The main road to Dubai from the hotel is pretty trying with lots of traffic and construction delays. Don't use Bab al Shams as a place from which to explore Dubai. That said, Bab is such a relaxing place that you may not want to leave.... more
This hotel is perfect for a desert experience without risking your life in a sand storm or running out of water! Very nice luxury property (like all of the Jumeirah resorts) and a truly once in a lifetime luxury desert experience. Highly recommended for every one who visits Dubai. One or two nights is enough to give you the "desert... more
We stayed only one night. We did alot in that one day and had a great time. Girls swam, rode camels and horses and played in the sand dunes, rode bicycles and played miniature golf. Our room had a direct view of the sand dunes. Quite peaceful and quiet little balcony which I had coffee in the morning and listened... more
Pure unashamable luxury! You are greeted with arabic tea and dates when you check-in. Typical arabic rooms with views of the desert, complete with amenities in the bathroom, mini bar and daily treats of fresh fruit. Once a week all guests are invited to the managers cocktail reception, where we met the manager and mentioned we had just got married,... more
LOCATION: Excellent. You get the feeling that you are really in the middle of the desert and yet only 45 minutes away from the main parts of Dubai. Not the best location if you want to spend most of your time seeing the sites of Dubai. More for relaxation but there is a complimentary hotel shuttle that departs at 10:30AM... more
