Longchamps came recommended to us by a native Cairene as well as being highly rated here, but we were still skeptical of its #2 position until we stayed there. This was our first time in Cairo, so we started off looking for a Nile view. However, we kept hearing that the larger hotels along the Nile were in loud locations... more

We stayed there for 3 nights at the end of August and early September. As many people have mentioned before, the hotel exterior is not too fantastic, but once you leave the elevator you are in a nice, quiet place away from the chaos of Cairo. The hotel is nicely decorated and the rooms are comfortable. It is currently undergoing... more

We decided to stay at Longchamps based on TA reviews and were not disappointed. We arranged for the driver to pick us up at the airport and he was waiting for us when we arrived. Zamalek is a quiet, safe-feeling, area and the hotel was clean and nicely decorated (not that decorations have ever affected my hotel experiences). We stayed... more

As I've seen in an earlier review, the entrance to this hotel is less than impressive, and it would be tempting to get back in the taxi and get out of there! It's worth sticking around though as once inside it is very nice and has a certain old world charm. It also has the new world charm of air... more

A charming hotel with superb personal service. We booked a 4 night stay in a superior room, charming furnishings and décor, both in the room and public areas. The air con and little fridge were both fully functioning, essential in August! Very trusting and trustworthy staff and management, nothing is too much bother. Their catchphrase/logo 'Your home away from home'... more

I stayed at the Longchamps for five weeks this summer, a return visit after a stay of two weeks last year. I’d never stay anywhere else in Cairo – and that includes the Four Seasons. First, the location is excellent. Zamalek is a quiet, green oasis of calm in the midst of a dusty, noisy, sometimes overwhelming city. The hotel... more

We had an amazing experience at the Hotel Longchamps. We stayed our first night in a Superior room (very modern bathroom, nice furnishings) and our second in a normal room (totally clean, slightly less modern bathroom and less nice furnishings) because we decided to extend our stay. First, we asked Andrea to reserve us a driver and guide for the... more

I booked the Hotel Longchamps for my 5 week stay on the basis of reviews I read in TA, so it is only fair that I return the favor. First, let me tell you what the hotel is not -- it is not fancy, modern or luxurious. Anyone looking for those qualities had better look elsewhere since you will be... more

I arrived for work and my colleague arrived a day later. Without notification my colleage was put in a hotel a floor down (a completely undesirable place) after having booked the room and reconfirmed weeks in advance, On top of that they "changed" my room without me in the room (yes, they moved my belongings without my approval and me being... more

We spent a few days at the beginning of our first trip to Egypt in the lovely Hotel Longchamps. We really can't fault this place at all. Cairo is a bit hectic (even though we are fairly seasoned travellers!) and this hotel was a relaxing gem to return to at the end of the day. The rooms are very nice,... more
