After reading recent reviews, we were slightly worried with our choice of Cairo hotel. However, we left pleasantly surprised. Location : good, good view of the nile from most rooms, 10 min walk from the centre (Egyptian museum), not much else around the hotel though Security : first time we've had to have our bags scanned on the way in... more

We stayed in executive rooms with special reception and small lounge. Even tough the rooms very way beyond 5* hotel, quite small, not extremely clean and new. Good thing was the view over Nile river and Gezira island. The staff in the hotel doesn't look very helpful, rather obsessed with security but in Egyptian way. So it needs to look... more

Poor house keeping dirty bed sheets fitted. No hot drinks in room. We had no electric supply in the night on two nights. Safe in room broke. Pool equipment was ready for scrapping (sun lounges and umbrellas nearly all were defective.) Key fob entry to room both tags stopped working after 4 nights. Very dissapointing worst 5 star hotel I... more

Not being one to write much, it takes a visit that has made an impression, good or bad, to get me to take the time to do this. My recent stay at the Grand Hyatt, Cairo is one that will NOT be repeated any time soon. My primary mission was to conduct business. I quite frequently entertain my clients at... more

Beautiful hotel, foyer area is nothing short of palatial. Rooms very comfortable with two big singles or a king size bed and views overlooking the Nile (and possibly the Pyramids if you're lucky!) Food was excellent, wide choice of restaurants catering for all, some open 24 hours a day for the midnight-munchies! Staff were all very friendly, although their English... more

From the time I checked in from the time I checked out, there were problems. (1) The room as small and old. Stained carpet, an old extra bed with terrible mattress. (2) No facilities to make your own coffee or tea; so I had to pay EGP 11 for hot water. (3) The bathroom wasn't cleaned properly. The amenities were... more

The hotel is beautiful and the location lovely. However, since the alcohol ban the restaurants have been deserted and some have closed. Tourists who expect to have an occasional drink or wine with their dinner are out of luck, Next door is a noisy, rather shoddy Hard Rock Cafe that serves beer and inferior wines. Across a busy road is... more

This was a nice stay only for 3 days. Not so many dining options though. I was surprised. Rooms on the small side and the balcony freaked me out as I didn't feel comfortable sitting out on that ledge/slab of concrete jutting out so high up! But great view of the Nile. The concierge helped us get a good guide... more

Stayed on the 14 and 15th May and again on the 23rd May, first stay was excellent and was upgraded to a suite, second stay a couple of problems with the air con and noise from a function at the hotel across the Nile - however the room changes were dealt with efficiently and with positive attitude at all times... more
