I was married on the island and so my husband and I decided to make this hotel our "base" for three days. My first night I had one of their standard king bed rooms. It was decorated in a "shabby chic" style, which was nice, but the bed spread was more shabby than chic and was a bit faded and... more

My husband and I spent June 12th (our 4 year anniversary) at the hotel. The pictures on the website looked beautiful and romantic and the hotel's decor was "beachy" which I liked. The hotel is located in a very BUSY shopping area. So, if you are looking for peace & quiet, this is not the place for you. The room... more

We got lucky!!! After doing some "hotel research" on places to stay in Avalon, I decided to go with the Hotel Metropole. For once, I hit a homerun! This place is wonderful. It is located near the end of Crescent Ave. (towards Via Casino). They are close to the "action" but not right in the middle of it. This is... more

This was a terrific hotel, right next door, but closer to the Ocean than the Avalon Hotel, the other premier hotel in Avalon. I was concerned about the room size after reading a couple of reviews, but I was amazed at how large the rooms were. I do not where the other reviewers stayed or if they were expecting a... more

We just returned from 3 days on Catalina, staying at this hotel. When we made the reservations by phone, we stated that there were to be 3 adults- 2 beds needed. We reserved a room with one king bed and one queen sleep sofa. When the confirmation letter arrived, it stated that 2 adults were expected, so I called and... more

In the summer we travelled to California. We decided to stay on Catalina Island for a couple of days. The hotel Metropole was great. Great Location. Friendly staff and great service. The price included a continental breakfast. It was great. We have kids and they loved it. There is a laundry mat below. Very comfortable. I would go back in... more

We spent 2 nights at Hotel Metropole in Avalon. We splurged and got one of the suites right on the main drag with a large balcony and nice view of the harbor & Casino. The room was very large and beautiful, as was the hotel. Our complaints: they were working on the room beneath us - as in very loud... more

We stayed at the Metropole on business and I would love to go back there again. I upgraded my room to a partial ocean view with a balcony and jacuzzi tub and couldn't have been happier. The bedding was excellent and the towels were from Frette. The view from the balcony was breathtaking (see my picture of the sunrise as... more

After reading many of the positive reviews on Tripadvisor, I had pretty high expectations for the Hotel Metropole. For the most part, this hotel met those expectations--friendly, efficient staff, comfortable rooms, clean facilities, great location, and nice continental breakfast included in the rate. We stayed in Rm. 316 which had a fireplace, king size bed and a jacuzzi bath tub.... more
