It stands head and shoulders above other 4 Star hotels. I'd rate it a solid 4.5. Its not new or newly redecorated...so you could have individual "room issues" Our hair dryer was dead.. not a big deal...the carpet could have been "cleaner looking" but I'd book here again in a heart beat. Stayed at the Melrose 3 days and were very pleased. Great location, very clean rooms and baths; excellent staff were efficient, helpful and friendly. Wonderful area for walking and shopping. I really wanted to give the Melrose hotel a high rating since I got such a good price on the room. Staff is very friendly-checked us in early. Had to switch rooms. We've just returned from DC where we experienced the Cherry Blossom Festival. We stayed 5 nights in a Deluxe Double Bed room on the 7th floor. The room was enormous in comparison to a standard Holiday Inn type room. The furniture and sheets and towels were of above average quality.
