The Shangri-la has an impressive address and impressive view from almost every direction. The lobby is nice and Hart's Pub is kinda cool, the staff are professional and friendly , but other than that it is really just a downtown travellers hotel. Rooms were very average size, bordering on small with limited amenities available. - In Room Coffee, very important... more

Don't get me wrong this is a good hotel but it is overpriced and not as good as most five star hotels I've stayed in. Yes, it does have some fantastic views but our room seemed to be populated by quite old looking and not well maintained furniture and fittings. Room service and restaurants were expensive even for a hotel... more

We got an Opera View Room on the 24th floor. The view was terrific, although if you looked to your right you would be practically into the neighboring hotels’ rooms. So I wouldn’t advise you to stay in City view rooms, because it might be quite suffocating. The room was very spacious, but rather old looking and equipped with the... more

Just returned from 5 nights at the Shangri La, and overall had a very nice stay. The location of the hotel is excellent, and all the staff were pleasant and helpful. We arrived very early in the am and our room was ready early for easy check in. I did have a problem in which I requested a king bed... more

If first impressions count, check-in did not do very well. We arrived about 7am totally exhausted from Singapore having not slept. I had emailed the hotel in advance to request an early check-in if possible. I understand that if they have full capacity from the night before, this is not possible. I am a reasonable person. However, the way we... more

Arrived early evening after our 7 hour flight from Singapore. Even though we did not look our best after a long flight we were welcomed at the Shangri-La in a very warm and friendly manner. We were pleasantly surprised to see our room for the first time (we had booked a Harbour View room). It was quite a big room... more

My husband and I stayed 2 nights at the Shangri-la Hotel in Sydney to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We were originally booked into a Darling Harbour View Room, but we were upgraded to a Grand Harbour View Room by Kuna on the reservations desk. I was touched by his kindness and extremely grateful for the upgrade, as the room... more

We stayed at the Shangri La for a total of five nights on our arrival and departure from a five week trip to Australia. The hotel has a good location, close to the Rocks and Harbour bridge. We paid a bit extra to have a Horizon Club room - this includes breakfast and evening canapes with drinks. Both were very... more

We booked a Spa Suite from Wotif.com for one night. On check-in we were told we had been upgraded to a Honeymoon suite My husband thought this was odd as he had booked the most expensive suite in the hotel (the rack rate being $4500 p/nt) . When we got to the room, we were a bit disappointed to find... more

Attended a conference at this hotel, so I did not pay with my own money. Would never return to do so, at their price. The hotel and room was nice, and we had a very nice view although we did not book the opera house view. I found the walk to the harbour area acceptable. The hotel was full and... more
