We had a very pleasant weekend break in The Royal and were quite impressed with the overall experience. We had opted for an executive room which was very well decorated and had every possible amenity. It was rather compact but this is often the way with older buildings. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I would comment that the... more

We have just enjoyed four nights in The Royal Hotel Apartments, and as apartments go they are excellent. We had 302 which had obviously recently been re-furbished, it was really clean and very well presented. The view outside towards the Cathedral is OK but you do overlook the car park, simple answer to that is don't look down..... Everything was... more

We have stayed at The Royal twice now when in Truro and it is a decent enough hotel in a city where the standard is generally low. The location is great, so no problem there. I would rate the service as "OK". They don't appear to go out of their way, but at least they are not rude. We stayed... more

I was only here for a brief overnight stay on a business trip and had to say I had an excellent all round experience. Had an Executive room which was very large and comfortable and furnished in a quirky minimalist style which was rather at odds with the conventional small English hotel architecture - but I am quibbling. The real... more

I stayed in a single room (14) which was very small for a 15 stone 6ft bloke! The sash windows to the room shook in the morning when the no 16 bus to Newquay was outside. The food in the restaurant was great. I had a smoked salmon starter with a Goan fish stew to follow. However, if being hyper... more

I stayed in this lovely hotel for the week whilst on business. It is centrally located, so only a short walk to the shops. The staff were friendly, consciensous and professional. My room was in the attic so not ideal if you are tall but is perfect for a woman wanting a nice, cosy room to stay in. You almost... more

We were recommended this hotel by a local passer by in the main city centre. On arrival the receptionist, Jennifer was extremely helpful. We had been very disappointed in the hotel we had booked in to over the internet and on arrival decided not to stay because of the poor quality. Having entered the Royal, Jennifer then allowed us to... more

Having stayed here before, I was excited to hear that it had been re-modernised... unfortunately, my room had not been! If you can get over how to get in and out of the car park, it is in a great location... Reception staff are very accomodating. Room service for dinner ae good, however do not ask that they serve you... more

Good location in town centre, ideal for buisness. Paying for parking is annoying but is inevitable in such a central location. Food is good, reception staff are friendly. Rooms are good especially the refurbished rooms and apartments that offer excellent faciliites including wi-fi. Some of the older rooms are a bit tired but having stayed here a few times it... more

The Royal Hotel is very central to other parts of Cornwall and in the city centre. It is about 10mins from the train station and approx 20-30 mins from Newquay airport. I stayed at the hotel for business and to see family that I haven't seen for a while, this hotel was recommended by my family. On reading some of... more
