We booked the hotel for a Friday night. We were driving to Cornwall for a holiday and, as it was my birthday, we thought it would be a nice treat to break up the journey. First impression was good as the first building you see is lovely, then you drive round the back and realise you are staying in the... more

We stayed for one night on 30/08/08 as we were attending the evening do of a wedding. Check in was fast and efficient the lady behind reception was welcoming. Check in was officially 16.00 but we didn't have any problem checking in at 13.00. We had a courtyard room, with patio doors opening onto a grassed courtyard, it is very... more

I recently returned to the Hollies Hotel after a period of not visiting the region for some time and was pleasantly surprised. I have always preferred to stay at the Hollies when in the area due to its friendly atmosphere, good quality rooms and lovely setting. On my visit this time I noticed a number of improvements which really impressed.... more

I do travel a lot in the course of my business, and stay in a wide range of differing hotels... from 5 stars, large chains, through occasional boutique and niche hotels, to small and family run hotels such as this. I will say that this hotel is very well decorated and maintained, putting many of its larger and supposedly more... more

Yet again my job took me to Somerset and a surprise return to the Hollies Hotel. I've always enjoyed the stay but was delighted to find the upgrades and modernisation to this charming hotel. Wow what great bathrooms and bedrooms, shame air con is not available as it was hotest day of year but ever friendly staff made fans available... more

This appears to be primarily a conference/function venue with the most awful decor I have seen - dark, dark wood and red red carpets. The place is soulless. A warmish greeting at reception seemed the only time the reception was manned - all other times you had to walk across a yard to the restaurant/bar. This hotel seemed to be... more

The hotel consists of a 400 year old restaurant / bar and a much more modern building behind in which the rooms are situated. The rooms are spacious and extremely quiet. Most if not all the rooms have sliding patio doors leading to your own terrace area with table. The bed was very comfortable and even the mini bar drinks... more

I know that this hotel has received rave reviews but I don't really understand why. The hotel's website does give an impression of a boutique/quaint Somerset venue but to be honest the actual accommodation is located in 1980 esque annex and nothing like the original pub. I was expecting a lovely country hotel but it was more like a Travelodge... more

My first visit to The Hollies was for business reasons. I chose this hotel as was very impressed with website, and I have to say it certainly live up to its promise. Now that I've found it I always make sure I book here in advance of any business trip as in my opinion nothing in the area comes close.... more

Stayed 3 nights in one of their cottages. We thought it would be on site, but it's actually a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Which is fine after dinner to walk it off, but not great for breakfast. The cottages are new builds, and are not very sound proof - you can hear doors shutting and the wardrobe opening... more
