We stayed at Hotel De Gerstekorrel 16/08/08 - 18/08/08 and it was rubbish we got put in a different building with loads of stairs about 70 steps or something. Ok people, we know why we go to Amsterdam, its to party and "sightsee" and "relax". You spend all your money and most of your time doing that, so you don't need to waste money on a posh hotel, and you also don't want to spend all your time watching Sky TV in your room, This is Amsterdam, it rocks.... more

Located in the Dam square so if you like that that's ok or even great otherwise there are better and quite places in Amsterdam (now we know...). We stayed at this hotel from 14th - 19th February 2008. Upon arrival the reception staff were polite, welcoming and friendly, and the process of checking in was quick and easy. Beds were filthy, infested with bed-bugs, hairs and years of dirt. cleaners do not change sheets from what we experianced. Carpets were filthy as well. Food dropped and left in hallway floor for people to walk over. Other than that, it is a very basic hotel. more
