The views from some of the rooms are great if one gets the right room. We found the quality and quantity of food to be very bad. The view from the hotel more than makes up for the distance away from town. You need to take take the funicular (train up/down the mountain) or the bus into town, so its not quite walking distance - you could but it's not a safe road at night. Taxi costs about 7 or 8 euro.
