My family and I have returned to the Royal Sands 5 times in 7 years. And sadly, the "honeymoon" is over. We pre-paid for a "lock-out" room last year. When we made our reservation the operator insisted it was for the Hacienda resort not the Sands. After faxing her our contract that stated the Sands she then made the reservation... more

My husband and I, as well as two other couples, returned home yesterday from a week at The Royal Sands in Cancun, Mexico. Our experience at this resort was exceptional, and we would definitely recommend this resort to those who are looking for a great place to stay in Cancun that is close enough to the "life of the town"... more

Just returned from another great stay at the Royal Sands (May 10-May 17th). We absolutely love it! I can't say enough about the staff-they are so friendly! Everytime you walk by a waiter/maid/maintenance worker you are always greeted with a friendly "hola"! Don't miss the Carribean show at Hacienda Sisal. It is excellent! For $49.00 you get a mexican buffet,... more

My husband, myself, and our 3 boys (ages 12, 8, and 6) stayed at the Royal Sands April 26th thru May 3rd and had a pretty good time. First time in Mexico and was a little nervous about what to expect. I will say this, the Cancun immigration/customs is a nightmare so be prepared to wait and wait and wait.... more

I understand why this is one of the top ranked places to stay in Cancun. It was just what we were looking for and more. We initially booked our trip at the JW Marriott using points. Since we were using airline vouchers, this was sort of a “free” vacation. About 2 weeks before we left, I found a last minute... more

We traded our timeshare to stay at the Royal Sands. The trade was confirmed almost a year out, so we were surprised to be put in a villa that overlooked a large patio open to all guests, with no view of the pool and only a minimal view of the ocean. We returned to the front desk to be told... more

My wife and I just returned from a weeks stay at the Royal Sands (Apr 5 -Apr12). We had a bonus week from Interval we used to book a lock-off room. We arrived at the resort at approx 10pm Sat, at which time there was only one person checking people in even though they had 3 others behind the counter... more

Part of this hotel's deal is that it's a time shared property and so many of the people who stay here purchased time shares or are renting from people who own time shares there. It's a nice hotel but the features aren't all it's crack up to be. The owners house next door is sweet in comparison :-). But really... more

We are a family of 6 who have limited choices, and of course the Royal sands comes to the top with 2 BR villas. It was a great experience. Many have said that spring break in cancun is crazy, but we found it to be quiet and quite relaxing. Royal sands service is great. Our housekeeper has been there 4... more

We just returned from The Royal Sands, we were there from April 5 – 12. Let me start by saying that I spent about 2 months on Trip Advisor doing research about the Royal Resorts and Cancun. I felt that I had a pretty good idea of what to expect and my expectations were high. I would say that all... more
