My husband and I wanted our kids to experience New Orleans, so we took them there for a week in June. We made an effort to combine historical activities with fun stuff, so in between museums and plantations, we thought a trip to Mardi Gras World would be a kid-friendly alternative to a zoo or aquarium. The free trip to... more

In town for Jazz Fest, we made it over on the second morning to visit these huge warehouses where the Mardi Gras floats are built. In the gift shop which featured Mardi Gras and New Orleans items we purchased our tickets and were given really nice Mardi Gras beads which also identified us to the tour guide. Next we were... more

If you're a nerd like me who likes to see how things are made, you'll love this tour. It's great way to see the floats up close, see how they're made and learn about the history of Mardi Gras. You get to see the floats, sculptures that they put on the floats, the artists in action, costumes and masks worn... more

We visited Mardi Gras World on April 1, 2008. Admission for adults is $17 each and kids are $10 each. We took the free ferry from New Orleans across the Mississippi river to get to Mardi Gras World. Upon departing the ferry a driver (ours was "New Orleans" Nate) in a Mardi Gras World van takes you about a mile... more

Good Place to get out of the rain but you have to wait a bit when you want to leave andyou get hassled by the van drivers about doing a tour of the area. The Cake was good more

Previous reviews are right-on. This is a great place for photos and for the kids. Ferry ride is free from Canal Place to Algiers...quick ride across the Mississippi. I believe it leaves every 1/2 hour on the hour. Shuttle bus meets you at the ferry landing and takes you to Mardi Gras World. We had a lot of fun trying... more

We were referred to this tour by the owner of a bed and breakfast that we stayed in and we absolutely loved it. My wife and I went down to New Orleans without a plan or any ideas about the city. This tour really helped us understand the traditions of Mardi Gras and what makes New Orleans so awesome. It... more

First thing on the tour, you go to a small room and get to try on costumes and watch a history of the mardi gras parade. The best part is taking pictures with the costumes on. Very fun! The movie you could tell was very outdated, probably made in the mid 90's. I would have liked to see that more... more

You get the real feeling of Mardi Gras when you are there. It's a great tour with lots of history and information. My mom and I LOVED trying on all the head pieces they have worn in previous parades. They were really heavy on our heads but you felt gorgeous no matter what. We have great pictures of this place.... more

We weren't 100% sure about taking this tour. The price of admission seemed a little high and the location itself seemed out of the way. We ended up having a great time and this was one of the highlights of our trip. The free ferry ride and free shuttle ride to Blaine Kern's Mardi Gras World made getting there easy... more
