Being a huge Civil War buff, I couldn't wait to get to Gettysburg. Started with a 4 hour guided tour. The guide drives your car. Our guide had 28 years of experience, and it showed. Couldnt stump him with any question. He really made the battle come to life. If you have limited time, the tour guide is highly reccommended... more

It is hard to describe this experience. Walking the battlefield places you back in July 1-3 1863. Standing there realizing what significant events took place in the very spot you are standing is a very moving experience. First of all, if you haven't seen the movie Gettysburg yet, you have to watch it before going. Even if you have seen... more

I had been to Gettysburg National Miltiary Park a few times in the past but the brand new visitors center makes it a hundred times better!! This place just opened this year and is a massive place with a full stadium seating cyclorama theater with a large museum in the center containing all sorts of displays and artifacts from the... more

This was a great experience. 1. Sunday morning July 13th 2008, 10am - not busy at all 2. New visitor center (opened April 2008) is FANTASTIC 3. Take the ranger tours (free) - The rangers are excellent and knowledgeable.......then take the auto tour....it will all make more sense this way 4. Give yourself at least 4 hours to see things....allow... more

I can't believe this visitors' center was free; it was one of the most imformative museums I've ever been to. Sure it only scratched the surface of the battle and the Civil War, but it acted as a superb crash course. The battlefield itself is kept in great condition and is very scenic. My problems with it would be the... more

We were looking forward to the new Visitor Center, and it did not disappoint. Compared to the old "moldy smelling" center with the map that lit up battle movements with Christmas tree lights, this was fantastic. We paid $ 8 each to see the new movie and enjoyed it. However, we were surprised to see that most of what is... more

We went to Gettysburg with us two Moms and our two daughters (age 21 and 23). It was a weekend for the girls and they wanted to find ghosts. (The ghost part - well - one of our daughters got a little creeped out and didn't want to experience anything like that - so we didn't end up seeking out... more

My family and I spent the day at Gettysburg June 9th and enjoyed ourselves. New Visitor's center had only been open 6 weeks. Very nice......has free museum with interactive computers and lots of artifacts and quick movies. My family with a 10 year old and 8 year old spent almost 2 hours in there alone. Suprised at how the tours... more

We visited during our vacation to Gettysburg. The new visitor's center is huge and very informative. I recommend taking a tour bus with guide through the park because otherwise we wouldn't have been able to sit and enjoy the trip as much. more

We were in the Hersey area and noticed gettysburg was a short distance away. We decided to drive down without really knowing what to expect or to do. The park was very easy to find with roadside markers to direct you. The vistors center is quite large and very open. We saw the short movie which was a bit pricey... more
