I am thankful I read reviews here before we went- we did arrive early- 9AM we were in line and we breezed through. We bought the flex pass b/c we didn't know how long it would take us to get there and it worked out fine. It was about 5 minutes if even that to go through everything including security... more

I think this museum get publicity because it is one of few museums in NYC. The ferry to get there is terrible. The security check is worse than most airports and the lines takes forever. But you get a view of the city and Statue of Liberty on the way. Once there, it is not bad but not much to... more

I am from the UK and don't have any relatives who passed through Eliis Island, however I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. We did the free Staten Island Ferry and thought it was too far away from the Statue to get any decent pictures so we paid our money and hopped on the ferry quite early in the day, we... more

I have always heard this is a must see when in New York. This is nothing like the Statue of Liberty. I think it would be better if you knew the heritage of your family to look up. Otherwise I thought it was pretty but not a whole lot to do. more

This attraction is a must see historical site in NYC. While the restoration has only occurred on the main part of the island, the exhibits and site are very educational. Might be boring for young children. more

This is something I had looked forward to seeing for years. After all, 3 of my 4 grandparents came to this country right here. My Grandma Evalyn was still alive when they began fund raising tl renovate the building. Our family made a donation and her name joins many others on the Wall of Honor. To really get the feel... more

I was on Ellis Island, July 4th 2008. A bit disappointed because although a lot has been restored, a lot has not. I purchased an online ticket for Statue of Liberty/Ellis. Met up with a tour guide on 49th and Broadway and about 30 of us took the subway to Battery Park. We were able to skip a few crowds.... more

Ellis Island was very interesting. We got the audio tour and found it to be very informative. We learned a lot of interesting stuff. The only problem is the long line to get back on the ferry. It was so long that we had to wait for 2 boats before we could get on. But other than that we really... more

We reserved our tickets online and did the reserved time with the audio tour for both Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. It turns out that we enjoyed Ellis Island much more than Statue of Liberty. The ferry is a bit annoying as you are crowded and herded like cattle. It is very busy but you are not on the... more

Ellis Island has gone a long way in the restoration process. Just a few decades ago, it was a dilapidated area decaying through years of non use. It has come a long way since then, but still needs to go a bit farther to be a good ambassador of the history it holds. Some of the displays are very nice... more
