We followed other recommendations and left from the New Jersey side. No lines really to speak of. We booked our tickets about two weeks ahead of time to get monument access, and we were panicked a little since it said 9:00 ferry, which we were late for, but they still honor the pass whenever you do make it to the... more

We thought we had followed the advice--go early, book in advance, and we still stood in line nearly 90 minutes just to get in moved into the line for security, which then took another 45 minutes. All that to get into the pedestal for 15 lousy minutes. The park service should really be embarrassed at how poorly this is run.... more

My wife and I visited, and I forgot some warnings I had received about the crowds...BIG mistake! There are two ferry lines run by the same company that can take your there, we came in through the NYC side, we heard the Jersey side was less wait. Got there around 11 on a weekday in August, and the NYC lines... more

We went as part of our City Pass which was the Statue Cruises. We went the first thing in the morning to avoid the crowds in the summer. Boat ride was o.k. and glad we went early because next boat that came was really packed. Statue of Liberty is always a must to see and she didn't let us down.... more

Took my first trip to NYC early June 2008 and the statue of liberty was one of our stops. It was kind of a last minute trip, so I didn’t have time to research. Reading the reviews now, I sure wished I had. The park closes at 5, but the last ferry leaves at 4:30. We got there at 3,... more

What can you say it's the Statue of Liberty - you have to go but GET THEIR EARLY. Buy the monument pass ahead of time, get to the ferry at the crack of dawn and head straight for the monument as soon as you get off the ferry. All you need to get on the ferry is a print out... more

i followed all the advice already given about going early in the day and getting tickets online to avoid the big crowds. the day was lovely and the lines were reasonable. the only hitch was that the monument passes were booked more than 3 weeks out so you really need to plan/order ahead if you want to go inside. more

You have to go to the statue of liberty, we stayed in midtown manhattan and the subway ride took 15mins if that...was really suprised actually. Then just a short walk to the park to get your tickets isnt bad at all. the lines can be fairly long to get on the ferry but entertainers will keep you occupied. The earlier... more

I have always dreamed of seeing the STatue of Liberty!!! My family and I ordered the online monument passes and got to go inside the pedastool. The security is like nothing I have EVER experienced. It is by far more secure than any airport I have ever been in. The lines are long and it takes a while to get... more

Many people live in or travel to NYC without visiting the Statue of Liberty. It's something every American (or visitor to America) should see. If you book ahead online, you can get access to the pedestal. There is a LOT of security, which accounts for most of the lines. It's like going through airport security, twice. The lines and crowds... more
