The museum was a complete and delightful surprise! We went because of free admission coupons in a City Pass booket and honestly, we will visit on every return trip to San Francisco. Very nice collection dominated by Chinese and Japanese art and archaeological pieces, and absolutely worth the visit. The screens are impressive, and the jade collection is nice. The Asian Museum, near City Hall, is in the renovated old library building, which has kept much of the old classic style while adding modern sections.
