I live here. Kailua Beach has everything good about it...turquoise blue water, powder white sand beach, trade winds to keep it all at 80 degrees, and the sun even sets behind you, so the water shines all the way to sunset. I've been all over the world, and never found a beach as nice. Great, cozy, non-touristy stores and restaurants... more

This was our first trip to Hawaii, April 2008. I had read all the reviews of this beach, but it very much exceeded all my expectations. The water is so calm and warm, perfect for swimming. We spent hours just swimming and playing in the water. The sand is so soft and powdery. There was no crowd, at all. We... more

I've been going to the Kailiua Beach Park for years after I reached the age when I could not handle the wave action at Sandy Beach and Makapuu. The waves are usually very gentle and there's not much chance of getting in trouble if you go in with a snorel. The other item that sets this beach apart is the... more

Kailua Beach Park - we were looking for the calm, sandy beach area but found no beach (rather, a heavily eroded steep area/ledge leading to the water). The waves were so strong it knocked me over. The area is really gorgeous - and the water stunning. A little disappointed we didn't find this calm swimming area that we see in... more

Hubby isn't a big beach person, so we just made brief stops. We did play in the ocean here and found the ocean floor to be pretty sandy so we didn't hurt our feet much. You can rent kayaks and paddle out to the bird sanctuary island - which is supposed to be beautiful. more

We had our most memorable day kayaking to the Mokulua Islands. Rented a tandem from Twogood Kayaks. Navigating on and off the islands was a little difficult due to the waves, but it was still fun. We hiked around the island to a hidden cove where we took some of our most amazing pictures. more

Just spent several weeks on Oahu, and swam at 7 different beaches while there. The beaches at Kailua and Lanikai were so beautiful! The waters of Kailua Bay are calm and the sand is white and powdery. There are lots of beach activities going on around you, but it's not crowded. There was no noise pollution from anything motorized because... more

Kauilua Beach is the absolute best beach for all around fun on Oahu! The water's mellow enough that anyone can go in and enjoy it , it's a terrific kayaking spot, and gorgeous with soft white sand and stunning blue water! It's so laid back, probably due to the fact that there aren't any hotels in Kailua. We rented a... more

When we arrived to Kailua Beach Park, early last spring, it soon became apparent that these waters were built for kayaking. We rented a kayak just off the beach at Kailua Sailboards and Kayaks which made it super easy since we did not have a car wth a rack. We just pulled it over to the sand and paddled out... more

kayaking in Kailua is a fantastic way to go. Laniki beach was the most notable with large coral heads and turtles. Avoid Hawaiin Water Sports, that is who we went with the first time 'round and they dropped us off in this canal with pollution signes all around us. They didnt even give us life vests. There is a shop... more
