We had a great time shopping at the Hilo Farmer's Market. Unfortunately it was raining the day we visited, but if isn't raining during winter in Hilo, it probably will be later that day. Bunch of flower, fruit, & souvenir vendors set up makeshift stalls on Sunday in Hilo's downtown. Papayas go for 2/$1-can't beat that price even in HI more

If you have a kitchen and love to cook, visit the Hilo farmers market on Saturdays for exotic and familiar fruits and veggies. Otherwise visit the little trinket store adjacent to the market and go gift shopping. I go there to get stuff you just won't find in the grocery store, you can also find souvenirs and little trinket shops... more

This is the largest and best of the farmers markets I have been to in the islands. The selection of produce and hand crafted items is large and the prices very reasonable.
