We went over 4th of July holiday. Beale was packed. Went with a friend and had a great time. Went on Beale before dark just to see what was what. Daytime is fine for kids, a good time to view what is there and do a little shopping, but the street really doesn't come alive until after dark, which is... more

Beale Street has a rich history, definitely. However, the establishments here are relatively new (mid 1980's). While the buildings are old and historic, the businesses themselves seem "fake" and more like a manufactured experience. Dont' get me wrong, it was fun! However, unlike Bourbon Street in New Orleans (for example), we had the most fun inside the establishments, as opposed... more

As I used to live in Memphis, I visited Beale Street all the time and did not hesitate to bring my children there although there wasnt that much for them to do. Not the greatest food, cheap tourist bbq 'cept for Blues City Cafe. If you do bring kids, be cautious of the later hours of the night especially on... more

Not sure how others can view this as a place of family entertainment. I visited briefly during daytime and can only imagine what might go on at night. In any case the only thing I could see was a dirty stretch of street lined with tacky shops selling cheap tourist stuff and noisy bars with annoying staff trying to lure... more

We just returned from Memphis for spring break. As a single mother, I nervously took my kids, ages 6, 10 and 12 to Beale Street on St. Patrick's Day. There was no need for worry! It is alive with music and neon color, and everyone was very polite and respectful. I felt very safe with my kids, and they soaked... more

I loved the food, the music, the fun,it was not over-priced,it was not too crowded yet enough people everywhere to make it enjoyable. it was all good. The BBQ at silky o`sullivans was the best! Delta Highway plays at the juke joint and they play great memphis style blues. It is also safe at nite,we had no problems. more

If you have ever visited Bourbon Street in New Orleans, then you will know what I'm talking about. So many friendly people & attractions to see, Beale Street is an awesome place to check out. more

We visited Beale Street on Saturday afternoon. The scene reminded me very much of Burbon St. in New Orleans. The street is blocked off and there are so many shops, resturaunts, and clubs. We had a GREAT time, we didn't stay past sunset but the party crowd had started to trickle in around 5pm. We were told by a friend... more
