A very good collection of Impressionist Artists with a fair collection of American contemporary Art, although the Remington pieces were quite good. The Museum was being remodeled during our visit on June 13. 2008, so the art was not particularly well displayed. more

One of the great museums of the world. Can be crowded on weekends as when we visited in mid April '08 [and a number of times before]. Great collection of Impressionists. more

If you like art and is interested in art, then you should go if you don't mind it that it's somewhat exspensive. The audio tape tour is annoying and slow.....But, is also somewhat interesting. The staff is rude. It's exspensive, and when it's crowded it's harder to get around. more

We went to the Art museum with high expectations. Maybe that was our downfall. There were alot of exhibits closed due to construction or updates. The headphone guided tour was a waste of money for us. We found it disorganized. We were hoping for a guided tour that hit the main attractions so we could learn about some paintings/painters in... more

While my boyfriend and I quite enjoyed the wonderful exhibits, especially the Impressionists; most of the staff was incredibly rude.At one point we got a bit too close to a piece of furniture (no we did not touch it,God forbid) and an alarm went off. There was a staff member not more than 3 or 4 feet away who shrugged it... more

This place is a must-see if you are in Chicago. We were fortunate enough to travel there during the museum's "Free February" 2008 promotion and got in for free. Of course, the down-side of 'free' is over-crowdedness. But it was still enjoyable to see originals from Monet, Picasso and Hopper. The park outside of the museum is also a site... more

I've been there at least four times and it never gets old. Lots of interesting and unique artwork, and always worth the visit. Not a big art fan but the Art Institute is always a fun destination. more

This is one my favorite parts of Chicago!!! Art buffs will be able to spend all day here!! Their regular exhibit is fabulous--one of my personal favorites is "Sunday in the Park". They also usually have an impressive special exhibit too. When we've been there, special exhibits have included Mary Cassatt and Van Gogh. This is definitely a don't miss... more

There is a reason this is currently ranked as the #1 attraction in Chicago. I was looking forward to my trip to the Art Institute, but was not prepared by what a huge and amazing collection they have. For a minimal price (even more so if you are a student or teacher), you can see one of the most amazing... more

WOW Miniature furniture to art in all mediums from all over the world. Takes 2 days for everything. If you have only one day, plan your favorites. Skip the recent adolescent photography show. I have better family photos from my daughter's disposables cameras. Nothing unique or artistic here. Go for everything on the second floor. Great early American artist collections. more
