This was our first time to snorkel so I don't have much to compare it with. We found the crew to be very professional and helpful. They made it very easy for first-timers. The water was wonderful. It was very clear and there were many fish and coral formations. If I get the chance I will definitely make a return... more

***BE AWARE OF WHERE YOU PURCHASE YOUR SNORKEL TOUR*** We learned the hard way. There is a little shop just before you get to the John Pennekamp State Park, that offers snorkel tours. They are advertising as John Pennekamp snorkel tours. This IS NOT the state park tour. So just beware. The crew were very helpful, but the water was... more

Took the snorkeling trip to the reef and it was nice. The boat ride was 40 minutes. Depends on the weather and the number of boats out there, the captain can go to different location on each trip. We didn’t see the statue but we saw nice coral reef and fish. We saw a huge barracuda, a sting ray and... more

We drove down from Fort Lauderdale for a day trip to snorkel. We chose to use the park's tour as it seemed about the same price as others. It cost $3 a person to enter the park from the road, then more than $120 for three to snorkel and use the equipment. It was worth it to me. The boat... more

We rented kayaks here, and paddled through the mangrove trees. It's a great way to experience the nature here. The park is a bargain at $3 a person entry, and the kayaks very reasonable. We also did the glass bottom boat. That was not worth the money in my opinion. A fair number of people got sea sick and it... more

We were at Pennekamp SP last year for a day during Spring Break and decided to come back this year and spend more time. Tent camping on site 9. The camp area is nice and clean but there is not alot of privacy between sites. They also appear geared mainly for RV's, though there were a handful of other tent... more

My family and I decided to go to John Pennekamp State Park. We either wanted to go snorkeling or ride on a glassboat ride. So, we did some research and decided that we would go on the glassboat ride because if the waves were too choppy or the water was cold (which is common), we may not have had much... more

This was our second time ever snorkeling, so we are novices. Nonetheless, we had a great time. Following advice, we booked the 9:00 trip and had to be at the park by 8:30. We rented masks, fins, and wet suits-the water was in the 70s, but we were glad we got these. We purchased the mid-priced snorkels since they had... more

My family had an OK time. We kayaked, hiked, beached and picknicked. Hiking, beach and picknick just OK. Like all beaches on the keys, it was more like a lake beach but tropical. Kayak trip was a lot of fun, but I would not recomend it for first timers. Entry/exit canal was choppy with waves and large boats created wake.... more

In February, we visited this park for the glass bottom boat tour. Although the visitor center is currently closed for maintenance, other parks of the park are operational. Our trip to the coral reef was aboard the Spirit of Pennekamp, which I believe is their newest boat. The trip to the reef was very enjoyable; the tour guides are knowledgeable... more
