13 years and $1BN to build. Amazing architecture, awesome gardens, and then there's the building and buildings of art works! I stayed there 4 hours - and the tour mentioned people average 4-6 hours vs. 1-2 hours for usual 'museums'. Really worth a visit - and do the architecture and garden tours - they really bring it to life. I... more

Since the no-cost policy at the Getty is getting lots of attention, I'll certainly agree that it's wonderful to be let into a world-class museum for no more than the price of parking. However, I really can't understand why more people aren't discussing the actual art collection, which is fabulous. To be sure, this museum is not nearly the size... more

This is not a typical Los Angeles attraction. We planned to stay for a few hours and spent the entire day instead. I would've like to come back for a second day. There was as much to do outside appreciating the city views, the gardens, the sculptures, the architecture and the crowds in addition to appreciating the arts inside. Getting... more

Prepare to be spoiled... from the free admission, gorgeous gardens, views, good food, unsurpassed attention to detail, and oh yeah, the art... this place is one in a million! Even if you don't think you like museums and you don't think you like art, I'll bet there will be SOMETHING here to capture you. This collection is first class with... more

This is an amazing museum that does not get the world wide attention it deserves. The architecture and the exhibits are equally incredible. Do not forget your camara! Also, there are way too many exhibits to really get an in depth look at all of them, so do your research first, find out what will be there and what you... more

This is a must see in LA! The cool white buildings and flawless design is something to behold. The garden is also amazing. Take the free tours that occur frequently each day and enjoy the beautiful artifacts purchased by the former richest man in the world. more

Besides the amazing and expansive art collection, the Getty is simply unmissable for the building, the gardens, and the views! Parking is, for a major city, pretty cheap ($8), and there's plenty of spaces. Go ahead and get your camera out the minute you get on the tram, because both on the way and once you arrive there are some... more

In a metropolitan area with several excellent art museums, this one is simply the best.It has a huge collection of European paintings, splendid sculpture, ancient antiquities, and fine European decorative art works. I especially enjoyed its Italian Renaissance paintings,Mannerist paintings,Dutch Master paintings,French Baroque paintings, and French Impressionist paintings. My favorite works in this delightful hilltop museum were;Cenno Di Francesco Di Ser Cenni's altarpiece,Bartolomeo Vivarini's"Saints",Adrien Isenbrandt's"Saint Gregory's... more

The J. Paul Getty Center is an amazing facility. It was $8 for parking with no reservations required. Finding parking wasn’t a problem and everyone goes from the parking lot to the tram to the museum so it doesn’t matter where you park. Do remember where you park because after spending hours at the museum you don’t want to be... more
