We love this place. First visited on our second trip to bangkok- having 'done' the palace, wat po, wat arun etc etc the fist time around. Wow! It is peaceful and wonderful. Everytime we tour the house, we learn something new. Exhibition hall is also fun; this year they had an exhibition of burmese fabrics with some commentary about the... more

This house/museum is a must see while in Bangkok. The house is a showcase of traditional Thai design and provides a multitude of ideas for what to buy ELSEWHERE. The major complaint you often hear about this joint is that its hard to find. Nonsense! Your map is probably wrong and the tuk-tuk driver may want to take you someplace... more

Hi - to all visitors in Bangkok I highly recommend taking a tour of Jim Thompson's House. It is a wonderful Teak House with gorgeous furnishings. It costs 100 baht for adults and I am sure you will come away thinking it was money well spent. There is also a great restaurant which serves both Thai and Western food and... more

First of all, you have to walk a relative long distance if you go by BTS, then you have to wait until they have a guide available, (we had to wait 40 minutes) to be able to see the famous house, which doesn’t have many extraordinary things that worth it, is boring, and of course you can’t take photos inside... more

This place is an architectural masterpiece. In addition to that, the hostesses are truly classy and they have a wonderful museum restaurant and shop. The restaurant is a great way to break for lunch and you can get a table by the giant koi fish in the pond next to you. Thompson was a genius and his home is quite... more

Anyway enough about me! Bangkok is bustling with tourists, polluted and can feel chaotic - Although it still a great place to visit. Unlike many sites Jimmy T's house (we're close friends) is off the main road and set in a quiet side street with easy access by the skytrain, and has a calmness and beauty about it in its... more

This is an absolute must-see stop. I would rank it right up there after Wat Phra Kao and Wat Aroon. No other place open to the public gives you a comprable idea of the beauty, simplicity and sophistication of the Thai domestic arts. It's very inspiring and educational at the same time as being pleasurable. I go every time I... more
