This is a must see when you are in DC. In addition to the statue of Lincoln, his inauguration speech is carved into one of the interior walls. This is also a great place to spend some time out of the sun and to get some good shots of the reflecting pool and washington monument. more
It is quite a walk from the Metro, especially on a hot summer day, but once you get there it is worth it. Nothing short of a perfect memorial. Just go visit it, words can't do it justice. Take the kids, tell them about it and enjoy sitting on the steps. more
The Lincoln Memorial is a must see to many people. There are many interesting facts...which include: The mistake on the word "Future" (they carved euture, but colored in future) Rectangular (meaning died in office) ETC. There is also a diminutive gift shop at the Lincoln Memorial... and I won't say anything else since it WILL ruin your experience. more
