Although I have been to Amsterdam many times over many years, finding this museum was an incredible and exciting new adventure. I was impressed by the depth and amount of information presented in a relatively small space, but also by the artistry and imagination of the exhibits. My favorite? An exhibit about letters, written by Jewish detainees being shipped off... more

We opted for this museum in lieu of the Anne Frank House (which I had been to but my husband had not). This museum has so much information and is done in such a creative way that we could've spent 3 hours reading and watching everything. It's incredible the amount of information and what you learn about the Dutch people... more

The thing of it is, the museum gets down to specifics and particular human interest stories. It tells of the national psyche pre-war, and who took what part in the conflict-collaborator, resistance, acqueiser...much individual paraphenelia . Dont look for armament here-tanks and guns. See and try to feel what the experience was like. It will surely touch you deeply. more

I am interested in the resistance and the German occupation so definitely wanted to go to this museum. It's right across the road from the zoo and is quite easy to miss. It doesn't seem all that big from the outside, but inside is so much information and exhibits, personal accounts of living in the Netherlands during the occupation and... more

i only allotted 2 hours to spend in this museum and it wasn't enough time! the museum itself isn't very big but it is packed with information. very well organized, engaging, interactive exhibits. museum begins with dutch life before the war: lifestyle, economy, religions, political parties. and then life during the war and then the nazi invasion. there are real... more

I am a resident of Amsterdam (though British) and like most people who live and work in places that are heavily visited by tourists, they never really go to the museums very much. I write quite a lot on the forum so I decided it was time to rectify this and on a very windy and wet afternoon I trekked... more

If you are willing to wait on an endless line to visit the Anne Frank House (well worth the wait) than you MUST visit the Verzetsmuseum. This collection is a treasure trove of history recounting the valient resistance efforts of the Dutch people during WWII in their all out effort to save the Jewish, and ultimately, Dutch population from the... more

This is simply an outstanding museum. It tells the story of the German invasion of the Netherlands in WWII, put on a friendly face to the populace, then gradually took their freedoms away, in a carefully calculated manner. The use of propaganda from all sides is covered with intriguing detail. Personal stories from Jews and their neighbors paint a brutal... more

This is one of the best museums I have ever been to. Extremely well-organized with fascinating stories from the Dutch Resistance Movement. At the same time, it did not shy away from the reality that many Dutch did not resist. The museum is a little off the beaten path (across from the Artis Zoo), but on a tram line. I... more

My husband and I spent over 3 hours in this incredible museum. The exhibits are so well done that you feel like you are a member of the Resistance. The musuem is incredibly alive with audio recordings and films and the most interactive displays I've ever seen in a museum dealing with an historical episode. You'll see how the Resistance... more
