The Hunt Museum is easily Limerick's finest, boasting both a collection of local artefacts and some top-notch global work by first-rate artists -- you aren't going to find a piece by Da Vinci in any other museum in Ireland outside Dublin!!! I have to agree with the previous reviewer that this museum isn't particularly focused on Ireland, rather it is an eclectic mix of artifacts from around the world. However, there aren't that many attractions in Limerick (although King John's Castle is absolutely fantastic) so if you find yourself in the city this place is well worth a look. The price... more

I'm local, and I love the HUnt museum - lots of interesting things to see, a very "hands-on" place where the kids can open drawers and look inside (artefacts protected by glass, so no danger of damaging things) It was all kinds of weird and wonderful things collected by the Hunt family through the years, including a picasso, some other... more
