Area guide books recommended the Bazaar, and the around town tour ended at the bazaar. We rented a car and went to the bazaar, but there is NOTHING there. There is only a few shops and straw market. Not worth the time to go to the bazaar. I heard that someown bought the bazaar( I beleive the same person who... more

As other posters have noted, the International Bazaar was probably something nice in its heyday but now it is sadly quite desolate with few people around and many empty shops. There are some restaurants and a few small shops and a straw market, but very few people around shopping or eating there (at least when I was there on a... more

Simply put, don't waste your time. Anything that us at the International bazaar you can find at the Port Lucaya Marketplace. Besides that, once you get a bus ride to the IB, it is hard to get anywhere else because the buses don't run by there very frequently/ more

Ghost town describes exactly what the International Bazaar is reduced to. Must have been something is it's heyday., but don't even make the trip in. more

My husband and I were on a city tour of Freeport and this was one of the stops. Unfortunately, not much is open anymore after the hurricanes. The hotel and casino that were there for many years shut down causing businesses to leave and move to Port Lucaya. I found the vendors at the Straw market there to be even... more

Our second day in Freeport we went tot he Bazaar. There are so many stores it takes you around 2-3 hours to see them all. Make sure you barter for a lower price on things you're bying you usually can save $3-10 at each store. While we were shopping a band came through. Tons of fun. more

while it is true that the International Bazaar is feeling the effects of the closure of The Royal Oasis Hotel and Casino, there is alot of fine shopping to be had in the area. You can find anything from the reasonably priced to the extravagantly priced but it is still much cheaper than what you would find stateside. As far... more

Visited 12/30/04. The International Bazaar was basically deserted. Ostensibly, this is because the adjacent resort/casino complex is still closed because of the hurricanes. But it has undoubtedly also lost customers to the more upscale Port Lucaya Marketplace. Unless you are interested in the kitsch value of abandoned themed streets and alleys (one street is Asian, another Indian, etc.) you can... more

Do not pay the price they are asking for. Make a deal! Do not forget to shop around, and if they will not make a deal, just go to another shop. more

Go to the perfume factory, take lots of pix in lobby of family etc. Pretty good prices, make sure lids are tight for travel home. When you go to beverage store compare prices. Some stores are cheaper. Found some rum cheaper at Port L. write your prices, then buy when ready. Liked the choices of food better at Port L.... more
