We were near Ratoui beach stayed there for a day it was ok. After getting a little hassle from some of the so called rastas we were told about Pigeon Island and how it was so quiet. We ventured over to the island by a taxi boat captain Dave and his westcoast ferry very reasonable and prompt. Upon arrival we... more

For $5 USD we got into Pigeon Island. You can swim on the island as well, but the waves were too high so the beach was closed. That didn't stop us from taking awesome photos of the coast! We climbed up to the fort, saw Martinique in the distance, and braved our way up Signal Hill, which, wearing a white... more

A short walk across the beach from Sandals Grande. Cost is $5 US a person. We spent two days hiking around the island. At the top of the peaks you can see St. Martinique and a beautiful view of Rodney Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Ruins of an old fort on top of one of the peaks. Stop at the... more

Pigeon Island is a fabulous day out - so much so we went there twice. It is maintained by the National Trust so there is a small entrance fee, but it is so worth it. It is a small island now connected to the main island by a causeway created in the 1970s on which the Sandals resort now stands.... more

We have visited the Park twice. It is very peaceful. The bird-watching can be good. The historical buildings are quite interesting. You really get a taste of old St. Lucia strolling around the grounds. The icing on the cake is the climb up to Fort Rodney and Rodney's Lookout at the other end of the island. The views are great.... more

6/12/2006 This national park could well be one of the most interesting aspects of St. Lucia. There are many ruins of facilities build by the British military several centuries ago. The trust foundation is chartered to restore many of the decaying structures on an ongoing basis using park admission fees. The entrance fee to the park is $5 US/person and... more

Pigeon Island is a neat place to visit, its not really an island any more since it was connected by landfill back in the 70s however it is a very interesting place to visit for a short hike as well to learn some history of the island. There are many well preserved ruins of the old English base of Fort... more

We arrived in Castries on the Golden Princess in May of 2004. Knowing that the majority of ship's tours would be overrun with tourists, we had done some "pre-scouting" of the island. I am a bit of a history buff, especially Caribbean forts. I found some info on Pigeon Island on the internet and so we decided to run up... more
